This classic, multi-activity, girl’s-only course offers the same challenges as any Outward Bound expedition, with the added focus of sharing this leadership experience with other young girls. The course will be led by a passionate, talented female instructor.  On this course, participants will discover what it’s like to live, work and play in the great outdoors of Western North Carolina. The expedition will take students deep into some of the oldest mountains in the world, over mountain faces and through racing rivers.

Sample Course Itinerary
This is only a SAMPLE itinerary only. Adjustments will be made due to weather, programming area availability and group dynamics.
DAY 1: Course start, duffle shuffle, camp craft
DAY 2-5: Backpacking training expedition: navigation and risk management skills
DAY 6-8: Rock climbing, belaying, rappelling and multi-pitch climbing
DAY 9-11: Backpacking main expedition: advanced navigation and group decision-making
DAY 12: Service project: trail building or work with community service organization; resupply
DAY 13-15: Whitewater canoeing: paddle strokes, boat maneuvers, rapid scouting, self-rescue
DAY 16-18: Solo
DAY 19-20: Backpacking final expedition: leadership and independence, summit peak
DAY 21: Personal challenge event, clean and de-issue gear, graduation ceremony
DAY 22: Course end. Transportation to the airport.
