The tuition and travel expense for your North Carolina Outward Bound Veterans course is fully funded by several generous donors. These donors, some of them anonymous, believe that investing in an Outward Bound experience for veterans honors their service to our country. After we have received your completed forms, you are approved for the course and the course is confirmed a “go” we will contact you regarding travel plans. Travel plans are normally made 30-45 days before the course starts. You have two options for traveling to and from your course.
You can choose to drive to the course. If you choose this option you will need to leave your car in long-term parking at the airport for the duration of the course. If you choose to drive to the course NCOBS will reimburse you for gas and parking if you mail, e-mail or fax a copy of your receipts within 7-days of the course end.
EXPULSION OR EARLY DEPARTURE
If you are expelled or choose to leave your course voluntarily you are responsible for paying any change fees or increase in air fare required for you to return home. (See page 7 of the Medical Record booklet; Expulsion/Early Departure Policy.)
NCOBS will purchase you a plane ticket for arrival at Coastal Carolina Regional Airport in New Bern, NC. In order to get you here on time for the course start day we may need to fly you in the day before the course starts. Generally, we have found that if you live west of the Mississippi River this will be the case. Please plan for this when making arrangements to be away from work, school or home. If this is the case NCOBS will book a hotel room for you. You will be responsible for getting a shuttle to the hotel when you arrive and for getting a shuttle back to the airport to meet NCOBS staff on the course start day.
If you are traveling by air, be aware of TSA guidelines. To avoid TSA taking items out of your carry-on luggage (like insect repellent and sunscreen), pack these items in your checked luggage or do not exceed size specifications.
