Classic-style courses are the original Outward Bound program. These expeditions are based outdoors and teach students technical skills like navigation, camp craft, backpacking or rock climbing basics, and much more. As students learn these skills in challenging situations, they also learn the value of teamwork, compassion for others, and the pursuit of excellence.

Designed for adults (aged: 18+, 23+, 30+), these Classic wilderness adventure expeditions are about recapturing the enthusiasm of doing something new, different, and demanding. Participants tackle challenges and re-discover their strengths and energy. Classic adult courses instill a renewed sense of confidence and clarity.

In fielding a lot of questions along the lines of “Why on Earth would you want to go do something like that?” I was able to answer easily…for the experience. When is the last time you sought out a new experience, profoundly developmental or otherwise, just for the sake of doing something new/different? Given our comfort-addicted culture (of which I certainly include myself), I’m imagining a lot of people don’t bother seeking out this kind of thing.
