Professional Background: Practiced forest management on corporate properties for eight years, then worked in commercial real estate development for 12 years before starting a boutique real estate brokerage company in 1997 with an emphasis on timberland and farmland.
Why States serves on the Board? I feel passionate about the wonderfully positive effects of experiential education while using the wilderness as a classroom. An on course experience at NCOB gave me a real jolt as I found myself and witnessed others growing and learning together in ways I couldn't imagine. And, I find it very exciting to play a small role in helping NCOB provide an experience that can be just as powerful to a 17 year old female high school student as it can be to a 60 year old Lutheran preacher or a veteran of Afghanistan.
